Makes the Most out of Your Machine

 

ISCAR JETHP line, the innovative solution for ISCAR’s unique tool families, makes the most of your investment in the High Pressure Coolant (HPC) feature.

Now with the availability of high speed machines which offer standard or optional 70-bar coolant systems and through-spindle delivery, HPC technology has grown much more accessible – and proven to be timely. To complete the circle, ISCAR has provided hundreds of special HPC turning tools for a multitude of applications. ISCAR’s solutions have been implemented by satisfied customers for many years now.

HPC has proven itself in hundreds of dedicated turning applications on difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium and inconel, at removal rates of up to three times more than that of the conventional flood coolant system. Users report elimination of chip jamming, faster cutting and much longer edge life in outer and inner diameter turning as well as grooving, parting and hole making. The advantage of ISCAR’s JETHP line is also noticeable when machining steel parts, where the chips are more manageable and insert life is significantly improved.

The coolant is delivered with enough force and fast enough to reach the cutting zone as a liquid, not a vapor. In the liquid phase, it lubricates the cutting process, as it quenches the molten chip, shattering it into smaller, more manageable pieces. Also, because of its internal flow path, HPC keeps the tool, insert and workpiece cooler, leading to much longer tool and equipment life.

Another benefit is that delivering coolant close to the shear zone improves machineability of the material under high speed conditions. Higher pressure coolant, directed right at the cutting zone, creates smaller chips, whether the material is titanium, inconel or steel.

ISCAR JETHP tools are designed to operate at extreme pressure and high cutting rates. They deliver a higher performance level than their conventional internal coolant counterparts made for lower pressure service. This additional benefit is provided when using the JETHP line also with conventional machine pressure.

 

Turning Tools for High Pressure Coolant

High temperature alloys produce a very high temperature as they are being cut. By effectively removing the heat, the chips become less ductile and thus easier to break.

Shorter chips are easily managed - they do not tangle around the workpiece or machine parts, so there is no need to stop the process frequently. Usually in conventional cooling the chip prevents the coolant from reaching the insert rake face in the cutting zone. The coolant stream of the JHP tools is directed precisely between the insert rake face and the flowing chip. This results in longer tool life and a much more reliable process.

The use of high pressure coolant is growing as manufacturers are looking for ways to reduce cutting time, improve machining process reliability and achieve longer tool life.
ISCAR’s new JHP tools provide all of these advantages.

The coolant channels of the tools feature outlets very close to the cutting edges, thus gaining the following advantages:

  • Shorter machining time – The cutting speed can be increased by up to 200% when machining titanium and heat resistant alloys.
  • Longer tool life – tool life increases by up to 100% not only on titanium and heat resistant alloys, but also on stainless and alloy steels.

Groove Turn



All of the advantages of working with high-pressure coolant can now be implemented on CUT-GRIP inserts, the most versatile groove-turn system available today in the market.


ISCAR’s revolutionary tangential clamping method provides excellent accuracy, stability and improved tool life. TANG-GRIP is most suitable for HP coolant solutions, because of free space above the insert.


A unique design that delivers the coolant jet through the insert directly to the cutting edge. This line features a technology that eliminates buildup and improves chip control, especially for machining stainless steel and high temperature alloys.


The most cost-effective 5-cornered insert for grooving and recessing. The tangential clamping provides a stable solution as well as an economical one. The short distance between the cooling outlet to the cutting edge ensures an effective stream directed to the cutting edge.


The new PICCOCUT bars with two coolant holes directed to the cutting edge and frontal flank, create small chips that can be easily pushed out of the deep grooves. This cooling solution substantially increases tool life.
